Saturday, 30 June, 10-11 a.m. – Guest Speaker, at the Canton Town Office. Dr. Matt McCourt, a cultural geographer, will give a presentation on how we can monitor factors that impact the health of our lake; he will also discuss modern mapping techniques. Dunkin’ coffee and donuts provided!
Sunday, 8 July, 1:00-4:00 p.m. – Invasive Chinese Mystery Snail Removal Day, at Canton Beach. An opportunity for people of all ages to improve the health of the lake by wading into the lake to retrieve this aggressive invasive. Gloves and buckets provided. Ice cream will be served to the participants!
Sunday, 15 July – LAA Calendar Photos Contest Ends. Everyone, including LAA members, officers, and directors, are invited to submit their photos to email@example.com for consideration for the upcoming LAA Calendar. Winners will receive a free calendar!
Sunday, 15 July – Canton Townwide Litter Cleanup. Meet at the Old Canton School (across from the ballfield) at 9 a.m. to help pick up litter.
Saturday, 4 August, 9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. – Invasive Plant Paddle, at TBD. An invasive plant search in kayaks and canoes. Some extra kayaks and canoes will be available. Lunch provided.
Sunday, 5 August, 5:00 p.m. – Dinner and LAA Board Meeting, at TBD.
Friday, 10 August, 7:00-9:00 p.m. – Sunset Gathering, at the Grays’ (286 Staples Hill Road, Canton). A members-only gathering with sweet and savory snacks and beverages provided by the board members.
Saturday, 11 August, 9:30-11:00 a.m. – LAA Annual Meeting, at the Canton Town Office. This meeting is for the entire membership. Find out about the state of our association; vote on a slate of officers; learn about the health of the lake; express concerns, etc. Refreshments provided.
Saturday, 11 August, 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. – Guest Speaker, at the Canton Town Office. Immediately following the Annual Meeting, the Chewonki Foundation will give a presentation on Maine reptiles and predators.
Saturday, 18 August, 1:00-5:00 p.m. – Lake Days, at the Bussieres’ (18 Lake Shore Drive, Canton). This annual celebration includes snacks, ice cream, socializing, boat rides, and an opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for some super prizes.
Saturday, 18 August, 3:00 p.m. – LAA Raft Race, at the Canton Beach (on Main Street between Lake Shore Drive and Bonney Road). Enter your homemade, human-powered raft. $25 cash prizes awarded in six categories.
