Lake Anasagunticook Association  –  2017-2018 Calendar

 Sunday, 15 October, 5:00 p.m. – Dinner and LAA Board Meeting, at Mike McCluskey’s.

Saturday, 28 October, 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. – Hartford Fall/Christmas Fair, at the Hartford Town Hall.  The LAA will host a table with a raffle.  Set up is on Friday evening 6-8 p.m. or Saturday at 7-9 a.m.

Saturday, 10 February, 6:00-9:00 p.m. – Canton Bicentennial Mardi Gras Party, at the Canton Historical Society.  LAA is an event sponsor and will be represented at the event.  Tickets are on sale at the Canton Town Office.

Saturday, 17 February, 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. – Canton Fishing Frenzy, at Canton Beach.  Polly will sell chances to our Ice-Out Contest and hand out our contact info, along with a free bottle opener.  LAA will provide volunteer support for the event.

Friday, 16 March, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. – Maine Invasive Species Network Annual Meeting, at the Maple Hill Inn and Conference Center, Hallowell.  A day of guest speakers on the topic of Worms, Bugs, and Fish–Oh My!  There is a registration fee.  (https://extension.umaine.edu/invasive -species/8th-maine-invasive-species-network-annual-meeting/)

Sunday, 8 April, 5:00 p.m. – Dinner and LAA Board Meeting, at the Hartford Town Hall.

Saturday, 21 April, 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. – Hartford Spring Fling, at the Hartford Town Hall.  The LAA will host a table with a raffle.  Set up is on Friday evening 6-8 p.m. or Saturday at 7-9 a.m.

Thursday, 3 May, 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. – Androscoggin River Watershed Conference, at Summit Hotel, Sunday River Ski Resort.  A day of guest speakers on topics of interest outdoor recreation enthusiasts, outfitters, tourism service providers, land trusts, municipal officials, and anyone else with an interested in the Androscoggin and its watershed.  There is a registration fee. Saturdday, 30 June, 10-11 a.m. – Guest Speaker, at the Canton Historical Society.  Dr. Matt McCourt, a cultural geographer, will give a presentation on how we can monitor factors that impact the health of our lake; he will also discuss modern mapping techniques. Dunkin’ coffee and donuts provided!

Saturday, 23 June – Annual Maine Lakes Conference, at the University of Maine, Farmington.  A day of guests speakers and workshops on topics such as lake health, loons, eagles, etc.  There is a registration fee.  (http://mainelakessociety.org/maine-lakes-conference/)

Sunday, 24 June, 5:00 p.m. – Dinner and LAA Board Meeting, at the Atwaters’ (on Water’s Edge off Camp Road, Hartford).  (Mike McC)

Sunday, 8 July, 1:00-4:00 p.m. – Invasive Chinese Mystery Snail Removal Day, at Canton Beach.  An opportunity for people of all ages to improve the health of the lake by wading into the lake to retrieve this aggressive invasive.  Gloves and buckets provided.  Ice cream will be served to the participants!

Saturday, 4 August, 9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. – Invasive Plant Paddle, at TBD.  An invasive plant search in kayaks and canoes.  Some extra kayaks and canoes will be available.  Lunch provided.

Sunday, 5 August, 5:00 p.m. – Dinner and LAA Board Meeting, at TBD.

Friday, 10 August, 7:00-9:00 p.m. – Sunset Gathering, at the Grays’ (286 Staples Hill Road, Canton).  A members-only gathering with sweet and savory snacks and beverages provided by the board members.

Saturday, 11 August, 9:30-11:00 a.m. – LAA Annual Meeting, at the Canton Town Office.  This meeting is for the entire membership.  Find out about the state of our association; vote on a slate of officers; learn about the health of the lake; express concerns, etc.  Refreshments provided.

Saturday, 11 August, 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. – Guest Speaker, at the Canton Town Office.  Immediately following the Annual Meeting, the Chewonki Foundation will give a presentation on Maine wildlife.

Saturday, 18 August, 1:00-5:00 p.m. – Lake Days, at the Bussieres’ (18 Lake Shore Drive, Canton).  This annual celebration includes snacks, ice cream, socializing, boat rides, and an opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for some super prizes.
