The 2nd Annual Lake Anasagunticook Ice-Out Contest is underway! To participate, give $10, along with your name, phone number, and best guess at the ice-out date, to Polly Bussiere at 18 Lake Shore Drive in Canton, or mail it to Polly at PO Box 444, Canton, ME 04221, or buy a chance at the Canton Fishing Frenzy on Saturday, 17 February!
Rules: Everyone—including LAA officers, directors, members, and the general public—are invited to play. Each date may be selected by only one person. If someone has previously picked your date, Polly will call you and ask you to select a different date. All the money collected by the date of the ice-out will be split 50/50 between the winner and the LAA. Polly will contact the winner directly and arrange to pass him/her the winnings. Both the Maine Volunteer Lake Monitoring Program (MVLMP) and the state of Maine indicate that there are two definitions of “ice-out.” One say that the ice is out “when you can navigate unimpeded from one end of the water body to the other.” The other definition is "when every last vestige of ice is gone.” Our contest will use the second “ice is gone" definition for the contest. We will rely on a member of the Canton Water District to make the call for us regarding the date.
If you have any questions, please call Polly on (207) 597-2762. Good luck! -- The Lake Anasagunticook Association ... See MoreSee Less
